...that I haven't really posted much on the types of anime and manga I prefer to watch and/or read. Please note that I am not bringing this up for any particular reason, but it may provide a little insight for you all as to why I'm reviewing certain titles before others, or some not at all.
I own quite a few manga volumes (see left-hand sidebar - "manga collection") and the majority of them are complete collections with exception to the ongoing ones, or a few series that I picked up and stopped following somewhere along the way (eg. Lament of the Lamb, Princess Resurrection). I'm a large fan of manwha full-colour titles like Trace, Ability, God of Highschool, Noblesse, Tower of God, and Crepuscule and follow them each week when a new chapter is released. When it comes to manga and manwha, I don't have a specific type that I prefer in terms of genre, since reading is primarily left to my imagination. The only difference between reading a book and reading a manga for me is that I don't get to choose in my head what the characters really look like. Leaving manwha out of the conversation completely, if I had to name a few manga that I really enjoyed reading I would have to say Tsubasa: The Reservoir Chronicles, Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), Trinity Blood, 07Ghost, and Rosario + Vampire.
I also own lots of anime (see left-hand sidebar - "anime collection"). I have all sorts in my collection, but I'll let you in on a little secret: I hate mecha anime. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's cool and I see what everyone likes about it, but there've been a few that just turned me off of it altogether. I really like Visions of Escaflowne, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and I grew up watching Gundam Wing so I understand where mecha fans stand. After watching a few series like Macross, Vandread, Str.A.In.: Strategic Armored Infantry, and Xenosaga I just kind of wanted to put that genre down and never see another mecha again unless I was required to, or unless I felt like re-watching Escaflowne or Neon Genesis again. That being said, that doesn't mean that I wont be posting reviews (in time) for mecha anime, it just means that I will do it slowly and fairly spaced apart so as not to destroy myself in the process of doing reviews on them.
I've previously made it abundantly clear that I am NOT a fan of
hentai genre anime. I can see the appeal of them for some people, but I
am not one of those people. Please don't ask me to review one, because
I'll likely ignore your requests if you do so. I don't mind the
occasional anime with nudity incorporated (if it's not the show's main
gimmick, at least), such as series like Tenchi Muyo! or Girls Bravo.
Looking at the majority of the titles I own (both manga and anime), you'll probably notice that I have lots of drama, supernatural, and romance titles. Yes, yes I do. I find myself enjoying those genres considerably more than any others I own. And now you understand why I have reviews for titles like The Familiar of Zero, and Air on my site here. I've actually typed up a review for Clannad and Kanon already but they're in draft form because I need to make a few adjustments to them still. Clannad was actually supposed to be my first review up on the site, but I haven't seen Clannad: After Story yet, and felt that I should see it prior to posting a review. Just thought I would share a little bit of myself with you all, maybe start a lovely little conversation about the preferences of anime or manga genres between us all.
I'd also like to take a moment to thank everyone who checks back on this site each week, whether I've posted something new or not. Thank you for your constant patronage. I've got people from all over the world reading my reviews (whether they're any good, you be the judge), which is something I didn't expect, honestly. The majority of my readers are in North America, as expected, but I seriously didn't think people in Germany, Korea, and France cared about what I have to say about anime. Damn.
